The proposed law’s Public Hearing is currently scheduled for Wednesday, Sept 6 (not a normal meeting day). After the Public Hearing, the Village Board votes to enact the law or not.
Questions to consider:
– Who exactly is eligible to be an alternate? Is Village residence required? Are Board of Trustee members, village employees, members of other boards eligible?
– Why would a Village official be allowed to be a Planning Board alternate but not a Zoning Board of Appeals alternate?
– How many alternates would be appointed, and how would they be selected as acting members if there were multiple alternates and only one was needed?
